Policy
The University of California is committed to protecting the privacy and accuracy of your personally identifiable information to the extent possible, subject to provisions of state and federal law. Other than as required by laws that guarantee public access to certain types of information, or in response to subpoenas or other legal instruments that authorize disclosure, personally identifiable information is not disclosed without your consent.

Information Collection and Use
Categories of personally identifiable information collected by this View My Loan (VML) Web site include: borrower's last name, a portion of your SSN, campus affiliation, and email address. The personally identifiable information requested by us is used to validate your registration information. Article IX, Section 9 of the California Constitution grants authority to the University of California to maintain this information.

In order to keep you informed of such activities as changes to your logon information, we may use personal information collected from the View My Loan (VML) Web site for the purpose of future communication back to online enrollees. Such email notification will be conducted in conformance with University of California and campus policies implementing anti-spam laws (http://www.ucop.edu/irc/policy/antispam.pdf).

Additionally, the Web server collects, at least temporarily, the following information: Internet Protocol (IP) address of computer being used; Web pages requested; referring Web page; browser used; date and time. This information is collected to monitor your navigation of our Web pages. We may use aggregate user information (such as web browser used, most viewed page) to report information about site access. This information is generally used to improve Web presentation and utilization.

This View My Loan (VML) Web site online activity uses "cookies" to initiate and maintain your login session. The cookie will expire when a user logs out of the VML application, or after 15 minutes of inactivity, whichever comes first. Neither personally identifiable information nor web site behavior is stored within cookies. If cookies are turned off on your browser, you will not be able to access the site.

Disclosure of Collected Information
The Office of Loan Programs will not disclose or share, without your consent, personally identifiable information, except for certain explicit circumstances in which disclosure may be required by law. Your personally identifiable information will not be distributed or sold to third-party organizations.

Alternative Choice
Borrowers who do not wish to register are not required to do so but will be unable to view their account information online. Borrowers with active loans will still receive semi-annual history statements mailed to their home address.

Updating Personal Information
Borrowers who have registered may update personal data such as email address, VML account password and secondary campus affiliation. All other personal data change requests must be directed to an Office of Loan Programs Servicing representative at (510) 987-9013

Policy Changes
This privacy policy has been created and approved by the Office of Loan Programs. Any revisions to this privacy policy will be posted at this URL. You may submit inquiries about this policy
